Assistive Technology Industry Mourns the Loss of Pat Price, Founder of AccessibleWorld.org
Longueuil, Quebec February 6, 2009.
It is with the deepest sadness that HumanWare informs our customers and friends of the death of Pat Price, the founder, of AccessibleWorld.org. Pat left us at 7 pm EST on Sunday February 1, 2009.
AccessibleWorld hosts the very popular and informative online webinars to the users of assistive technology. HumanWare and other assistive technology companies have presented many times on Accessible World to bring information and training to the user community about our products.
Pat Price was an inspiration to many who knew her. She recognized that many users of technology do not have the ability to attend trade shows and meet first hand with technology manufacturers to see their products and attend their training sessions. With Accessible World Pat brought the manufacturers into the users' homes. The online webinar format allowed two way interaction so users could not only hear from the companies but also ask questions directly to their representatives.
Despite long term illness and pain over the past several years, Pat maintained a rigorous work schedule leading her Accessible World team to provide weekly online training seminars. HumanWare congratulates Pat and her team. We very much appreciate the inspired leadership she brought to the industry to promote communication of technology products to the blind and low vision community. The industry and its customers will miss her very much. HumanWare extends our deepest sympathy to her husband, Marv, and their family.
On Monday February 9, 2009, in the Tech Talk conference Room of Accessible World:
http://www.accessibleworld.org/
Pat's colleagues will host an online memorial to celebrate her life. The memorial session will begin promptly at 8 pm Eastern time, 5 pm pacific time.
The program shall include words from the numerous friends of Pat over the years. Those present will also have the opportunity to say a few words.
