The new desktop electronic magnifier from HumanWare

Longueuil, September 2, 2009 - HumanWare announced today that the SmartView Synergy, a new desktop electronic magnifier, is now on sale. SmartView Synergy magnifies and enlarges text, objects and actions to help restore and maintain the independence of people with macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy or other low-vision eye conditions.

Synergy is the result of a collaboration between HumanWare and RNIB to create a quality high-value desktop electronic magnifier. HumanWare focuses on enhancing people's lives, and has been developing products for the blind and those with low vision for over 20 years. RNIB is the UK's leading service provider helping people with sight problems. SmartView Synergy has features for both basic and advanced users, and magnifies text, objects and images to help restore and maintain the independence of people with low-vision eye conditions.

The simple-to-use controls and high-quality imaging enables people to enjoy everyday activities like reading the latest magazine or daily newspaper, crosswords, as well as checking bank statements and household bills, and, more importantly, enjoying photographs of loved ones.

SmartView Synergy's ergonomic design makes it easy to use with intuitive controls that allow Synergy to be configured to best suit every user's viewing needs.

Synergy is available with a 19" flat LCD monitor or a distortion-free high-brightness 22" LCD monitor, or can be used with an existing monitor or TV. An optional advanced control panel gives users the added features of page locator, lines and blinds and computer-screen sharing. To best meet the user's viewing needs, the LCD can be adjusted up and down, swivelled left and right, and tilted forward and back.
