Longueil, Quebec, May 27, 2009 - HumanWare is now shipping the new SmartView Versa and Versa+ handheld electronic magnifiers. These two new additions to HumanWare's low vision product line have large 4.3" wide screens, 5x to 15x magnification and multiple enhanced contrast modes to make reading easier.
The SmartView Versa and Versa + were instant hits when they were unveiled at the CSUN conference last March. In fact, several clients had already placed their orders and were waiting for them to become available.
People who have low vision due to macular degeneration, glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy or another eye condition can use the SmartView Versa to magnify words and images. The portable device can be carried anywhere to enlarge text in newspapers and magazines, on pill bottles and food packaging, or anywhere things are too small to read.
Highly portable, the Versa and Versa+ provide access to a wide array of content, thereby limiting the need for cumbersome large print documents. There are also numerous features that can be applied in a school setting: facilitate access to audio learning, learning through video in class and at home, increase in-class attention and act as a study aid, provide library of study materials and notes.
Two models are available. The Versa is lightweight with a flip out handle and provides clear undistorted magnification. The Versa+ has all the basic magnification functions as well as the ability to save pictures, make voice recordings, listen to music and watch videos. The SmartView Versa+ transcends the definition of a handheld electronic magnifier with the addition of these unique multimedia features.
The SmartView Versa+ uses a standard SD memory card to save images captured with the magnifier or store music and video files transferred from a computer. Saved images can be viewed on the Versa+ in full color. You can easily zoom in the image or pan around the image to find the details that interest you.
