HumanWare’s myReader Wows Industry Experts
October 22, 2005(Christchurch, New Zealand: 22nd October 2005) HumanWare was last night announced the winner of the Low Vision Equipment category at the prestigious Silmo d’Or Awards held in Paris.
The Silmo d’Or awards, now in their 12th year, reward creativity and recongise the most important innovations in the optics and eyeware fields. The awards are held annually in conjunction with the Silmo exhibition that attracts 1050 exhibitors and over 43,000 visitors during its 4-day duration.
The Silmo d’Or Awards were presented at the Silmo d’Or ceremony, in the surroundings of the Chateau de Versailles. Guy Charlot, president of Silmo, and Isabel Beuzen, director of communication, presented the awards to category winners. Rudy Jeanson, the director of Eschenbachs French subsidiary accepted the award on behalf of HumanWare.
HumanWare’s myReader, the worlds first low vision auto-reader, was named the Low Vision Equipment category winner beating competition from Optelecs ClearView+ video magnifier and EVS’s Amigo product.
Launched in 2004 myReader is a revolutionary product designed to benefit people suffering from eye conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. Unlike its predecessors, myReader captures an entire page and then presents it to usersjust the way they want to read. Since being introduced to the market myReader has already changed the lives of hundreds of low vision users around the world.
