Release notes for Trekker 2.7.1 and Maestro 1.2.1 Service Pack

Version 1.2 of Maestro features enhanced Braille notetaking capability. Now the users can enjoy the efficiency of text input in Grade 2 Braille. This functionality is available in all Maestro applications, including Trekker. The system offers a specific Grade 2 format and backward or forward translation of files. In other applications, such as Calendar, Contacts or Trekker, the text entered in Grade 2 is automatically converted to standard text for easy synchronization with databases or PC.

Maestro has now an improved Bluetooth Manager. With its simple interface, it will provide stable, automatic communication as soon as the Bluetooth device and PDA are turned on. Visually impaired users can choose the most appropriate keyboard and one of the GPS receivers.

Maestro users can also integrate the Trekker option with the new wireless GPS system.

Grade 2 Braille

The ability to write in Grade 2 Braille is available in all Maestro applications. The main features are:

  • Grade 2 on/off toggle (F2 press and hold) for all applications.
  • In the Text Notes application, text entered in Grade 2 Braille in a documents is saved in Grade 2 Braille.
  • In other applications, text entered in Grade 2 is automatically converted to standard text for easy synchronization with the PC.

Text Notes

  • When Grade 2 mode is on, the text is saved in Grade 2.
  • Specific file type for Grade 2 (BNR)
  • Forward translation of TXT, PSW (Pocket Word) or RTF documents to Grade 2. The original document is kept.
  • Backward translation from Grade 2 documents to TXT, PSW (Pocket Word) or RTF format type. The original document is kept.
  • Possibility to duplicate a file
  • The file type extension appears in the document's list.
  • Improved efficiency when reading documents. Handles bigger documents in seconds.

Voice Notes

  • Long voice notes: the recording beep every 15 seconds has being removed.

Trekker 2.7.1 and Maestro 1.2.1 Service Pack

Release Notes

This Maestro and Trekker service pack contains the following fixes and enhancements:

1. Fixes

Trekker 2.7.1:

Royaltek 2001 SiRF III receivers are now functional with Trekker.

Three new receivers have been added to the list:
a)    HOLUX GPSlim236
b)    Fortuna Slim Bluetooth GPS
c)    Garmin GPS 10

The start/exit process in Trekker Standalone devices has been modified.

The process is now identical to the Maestro with Trekker option process. It is now possible to exit Trekker to the system bar through the Trekker menu or the Escape button.

Starting Trekker standalone procedure:

Press the Power button to power up the PDA. A single beep will sound. To turn off the PDA, press and hold the System Bar button. A double beep will be heard.

NOTE: before turning off the PDA, it is strongly recommended that you exit the Trekker application to the Trekker System Bar.

To exit the Trekker application, select Exit Trekker from the Application menu or press Escape.

The Exit menu item from the Trekker System menu is used to quit the Trekker standalone application and return to Windows CE. To restart the Trekker standalone application under Windows CE, press the System Bar button. From the System menu, move down to select Trekker application.

Maestro 1.2.1.

Grade 2 has been modified to accept the full French character table.

2. Enhancements

Messages regarding connection to a GPS receiver have been modified. The messages are no longer preceded by ‘Error’.

3. Installation procedure

This release is an upgraded version of Maestro 1.2.0. and Trekker 2.7.

To install it, launch setup.exe from the root directory and follow the instructions.

Please make sure that your official version of Maestro or Trekker is already installed.
