National Braille Week takes place from 12–18 October 2026, celebrating braille literacy and the important role braille continues to play in education, work and everyday independence.
Throughout October and into November, the HumanWare UK team will be visiting sight loss organisations across the country for informal, hands-on braille technology sessions.
Join us at a session near you to experience the latest HumanWare braille solutions, meet our team and ask your questions. Visitors attending in person can also enter a free prize draw to win a HumanWare braille device.

Technology continues to transform how we access information, but braille remains an essential literacy tool for many people who are blind or partially sighted.
Braille provides direct access to spelling, punctuation, grammar and document structure, while supporting privacy and independence at school, at work and in everyday life.
And braille continues to evolve. Today’s electronic braille displays and braille-first devices connect tactile literacy with digital content, communication, education and professional applications.
That is what our National Braille Week sessions are all about: bringing the technology to local communities and giving people the opportunity to experience it first-hand.
