Monarch continues to evolve with new tools designed to support students who are blind or low vision across assessments, mathematics, tactile graphics and digital learning.
Developed by APH in collaboration with HumanWare and the National Federation of the Blind, Monarch combines 10 lines of braille with tactile graphics on a single dynamic display.

A focused environment for assessments
Exam Mode allows educators to choose which apps and tools students can access during an assessment, while students continue to benefit from Monarch’s braille and tactile capabilities.
A better way to explore math and graphs
The redesigned KeyMath graph viewer provides greater detail and a simpler experience when exploring graphs. MathCAT also improves the translation of mathematical content between print and braille.
More ways to interact with tactile graphics
Tactile Viewer now offers additional zoom levels for supported graphics, including SVG files. The new Describe with AI feature can also generate a verbal description of an image.
Improved access to files and content
The update enhances file sharing and collaboration through KeyDrive and adds built-in styles for eBraille files in VictorReader.
Named one of TIME magazine’s Best Inventions of 2025, Monarch helps students independently explore braille, graphs, diagrams, maps and other information that is traditionally presented visually.
